TCF Canada Results: Where to Check and How Long (2026)
Waiting for TCF Canada results is the hard part, and the internet gives you everything from "one week" to "five or six weeks." Those claims aren't really contradictory: the official deadline is counted from the day FEI receives the session materials, while each centre publishes its own real-world turnaround — two different clocks, so two different numbers. This guide lays out both, plus where to download your certificate, how the 2-year validity works, and what to do next. Data as of 2026-07.
How long do TCF Canada results actually take?
Officially, results are provided within 15 working days from the date France Éducation international (FEI) receives the session materials, reduced to 10 working days when the multiple-choice papers are taken on computer. Note the clock does not start on your exam day — it starts when the centre's materials reach FEI, which is why real waits often run longer than 15 working days.

So "one week", "15 working days" and "5–6 weeks" can all be accurate — they're different clocks at different centres. When planning an immigration timeline, budget for the upper bound your centre publishes, and remember paper sessions are slower than computer ones. Your centre's published figure governs.
Where do you check TCF Canada results?
The official channel is FEI's candidate space, TCF-Candidat: results are made available there, and your certificate (attestation) is downloaded from that personal space. You don't sign up freely — the account is created from a link emailed to you after registration, and if account creation fails FEI tells you to contact your test centre.
Centres word it slightly differently in practice: Calgary's page says FEI emails candidates directly inviting them to create an account on its platform, while Toronto and Edmonton say the centre emails the digital certificate to the address you registered with. The safest approach: follow the official email you receive after the exam, whitelist your centre's address, and check your spam folder — Edmonton's page specifically warns about that.
Digital certificate vs paper certificate
The digital certificate is now the norm: downloaded from the TCF-Candidat space or emailed by the centre. FEI explains each TCF certificate has four blocks — your identity and candidate code; the place and date of the sitting plus the expiry date and certificate number; your results; and a space for your signature — along with two QR codes, the larger one used to authenticate the results.
Whether a paper original is also issued or must be collected in person varies, so defer to your centre. For immigration filing, submit in the format IRCC requests; authenticity is verified through the certificate number and QR code.
How long are TCF Canada results valid?
A certificate is valid for 2 years from the date the results are issued, and the expiry date is printed on the certificate itself, so there's nothing to calculate.
For Canadian immigration IRCC is more specific: results must be less than 2 years old both when you complete your Express Entry profile and when you submit your permanent residence application. IRCC states plainly that applying with expired language results means refusal. If your results will expire before you can apply, IRCC's three options are: retest, apply before they expire, or decline the invitation and return to the pool.
How do I read the scores on my certificate?
Each skill is scored separately: listening and reading on a 100–699 scale, speaking and writing on a 0–20 scale, each with the corresponding proficiency level. Immigration uses the converted NCLC / CLB level, and you need to reach the line in all four skills to claim it. What to do once your results arrive
- You made the cut: check the expiry date on the certificate first and work backwards from it, so your results don't lapse mid-process.
- You were just short in speaking or writing: FEI allows a re-evaluation request within one month of the centre receiving the certificates — but note Alliance Française Vancouver announces FEI is suspending the re-correction service from 1 September 2026, expected back in autumn 2027 (as of 2026-07; follow official announcements).
- You need a retake: the official minimum is 20 days between two sittings of the same version, and TCF Canada must be retaken in full — single modules cannot be booked. See the TCF Canada retake guide.
My results are late — who do I contact?
First, remember the rule people miss: the official 15 working days runs from FEI receiving the session materials, not from your exam day. So a wait inside your centre's published window is usually normal. If you're past that window, contact your test centre rather than FEI — results reach the centre first and are passed on to candidates, and FEI also directs candidate-space account problems to the centre.
Results came back short — what about getting another slot?
This is the classic timing trap: waiting for scores before looking for the next session, when popular cities are booked out a month or two ahead.
